Serengeti National Park is one of the most renowned wildlife destinations in the world. Spanning 14,750 square kilometres in northern Tanzania, it is famous for its iconic grassy plains, stunning wildlife and breathtaking savannah landscapes.
The park is home to the Big Five — lions, elephants, buffaloes, leopards and rhinos — and to the annual wildebeest migration, when millions of animals move across the ecosystem. Cheetahs, giraffes and hyenas are seen on almost every game drive.
More than 500 bird species live in the Serengeti, including the kori bustard and the African fish eagle, so casual and experienced birdwatchers alike have plenty to enjoy.
Prime game viewing as animals congregate at the waterholes, and the Mara River crossings in the north.
Lush vegetation and young animals being born — a favourite time for photographers.
